DJ Smart has been described as one of the most versatile and gifted dancers of his generation and possibly one of the most brilliant artists in the world. He has rapidly become a highly recognized performer, choreographer and teacher in all facets of the industry.
Mr. Smart is a graduate with honors from the University of the Arts, where he received his BFA in Ballet Performance and was the recipient of the prestigious “Stella Moore Prize” and the “Outstanding In All Styles” award. He has acquired an endless number of accolades and recognition including: 2006 NAACP ACT-SO National Dance Gold Medalist, 2007 YoungArts winner in Jazz Dance, Capezio Athlete, 2013 May “Got Dance LA Spotlight Recipient”, 2013 Edge Magazine “Person of the Week” and an “Emerging Artist Award” from Opera Noir.
He has made countless guest appearances and has been able to perform, teach and choreograph all over the USA and in over 15 countries internationally. His credits include: Momix Dance Company, Oklahoma!, Twenty One Pilots, Stevie B, BEX, Bad Boys of Dance, Freelusion, America’s Got Talent, Koresh Dance Company and the Step Up Revolution Fitness DVD. Most notably, he was a special guest performer on the hit TV series “So You Think You Can Dance” and “So You Think You Can Dance Ukraine.” In addition, he has appeared as a guest judge and choreographer on Lifetime’s “Dance Moms” and a dancer on “”Raising Asia.”” He continues traveling the world as a performer, teacher, choreographer, humanitarian and ambassador for the arts.
